Rotarian Jeff Mead is Vice President, Private Client Advisor, at J.P. Morgan, Chase Bank, Bainbridge Island. He is an expert financial manager with several decades experience growing client investments. His well-organized Winslow Way office gives him birds eye views of two well-trafficked thoroughfares: 1) Global Wall Street, and 2) Winslow Main Street.
The first thoroughfare, Global Wall Street, stretches across the computer monitors on his desk, linking him directly to JP Morgan’s worldwide think tank. By computer he has instant access to business data, analyst reports, and his company’s top-tier financial brain trust, all bringing him the information he needs to secure his clients’ financial goals.
The second view is his panorama up and down Winslow Ave from the large street-front picture window in his office. Should you stop at Blackbird Bakery for holiday goodies, just turn and look eastward. There, across the street, you are likely to see Jeff in his office, monitoring market trends and talking to clients.
Jeff was raised in a rural, mountainous homestead outside of Banks, Oregon where his relatives all grew their own food. He had so many extended family members living in those hills that the region became known as Mead Mountain.
During his youth, he spent many fond summers on Bainbridge Island playing with cousins. When he attended college at Willamette University on a baseball scholarship, the first day he met the love of his life, Erin. She was raised and educated on Bainbridge Island and they became fast friends.
Today, Jeff is married to Erin, is the father of a boy and a girl, and now has his own family compound here on Bainbridge, with relatives living on either side of him. We see Jeff at every Rotary meeting, in the front of the room, managing the meeting projector, coming to the rescue when the inevitable technology glitches make speakers’ palms sweat.
Jeff says about Rotary, “I am inspired by being of service both in my work and at Rotary. My greatest gratification comes when I help a client meet a financial goal, whether it be planning for their kid’s college, or preparing for retirement. In Rotary, I feel the same way, helping others, being a productive member of this Island community, this is what brings me great joy.”
