June 12, 2020    One of the most important and rewarding things our club does each year is to offer scholarships to deserving high school seniors. We offer two types - Community Service Recognition Scholarships and Biddle Memorial Scholarships. One scholarship emphasizes service to the community while the other emphasizes contribution to an athletic team, club or organization. Both scholarships are about selflessness, leadership and impact.

2020 Community Service Scholarships Awarded

The Rotary Community Service Scholarship honors Service Above Self highlighting initiative, persistence, leadership, and outcome. It is funded by our annual Rotary Auction. Of 24 applications, ten remarkable recipients were chosen: Spencer Bispham, Emma Brundige, Kayla Cortes, Delaney James, Elisabeth Leung, Ali Spence, Alec Stauffer, Abby Sullivan, Madeleine Swietlik, and Georgia Wood. Another especially noteworthy senior, Cruz Strom, was recognized with a Paul Harris Fellow.

The Biddle Memorial Scholarship honors commitments to sports teams, clubs, or organizations in the form of leadership, mentorship, or sportsmanship. Emphasis on teamwork and character stems from the values of Troy and Baden Biddle. It is funded by the Troy and Baden Biddle Foundation and administered by the Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island. This year seven recipients were chosen from 32 deserving applicants: Paige Aichele, Conor Babcock-O’Neill, Eleanor Collins, Gus Corsetti, Kendall Havill, Charlie Hughes, and Julia Jakubik.
